38 Year Old High School Teacher Charged with Sex with 17 Year Old Student
A teacher who worked at Harnett Central High School has been charged with having sex with a minor. 38 year old Rodney Donnell Ellis was a special needs teacher and assistant football coach at the school.
He was accused of having sex with a 17 year old student at the school by the student's mother. Although it is believed that he knew the girl from his time as a teacher, it is unknown whether she was a special needs student.
The mother of the student reported the sexual encounter, which occurred at her home in Angier, to school officials, who then reported it to police. Two days into the investigation, Ellis resigned from his new job at Western Harnett High School. He was booked in Harnett County Jail on Thursday for statutory rape and released on a $10,000 bond.
