Sunday Afternoon Crash Results in Assault, Involuntary Manslaughter Charges
20 year old Carla Edith Romero is currently facing 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and 1 count of involuntary manslaughter. Normally, when someone is facing these charges, it is because of a DUI accident. In this case, however, the driver was sober and it was a Sunday afternoon.
Romero was apparently speeding on Holly Spring Road when she lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic. The crash killed 73 year old Donald Carl Reynard and injured three others, Irma Adrade, Anna Reynard, and Kenia Reynard. Both Reynards are stable, in either fair or good condition. Adrade remains in critical condition. All three are still at WakeMed.
Romero is currently still in custody at Wake County jail. She is being held on a $1 million bail.
