Officers Track Down Theft Ring Leader
Police across several counties worked together to arrest one man believed to be the leader of a multi-state theft ring.
According to police reports, the 23-year-old man has been accused of fencing and property theft that has amounted to over $200,000 in stolen property. He is believed to have worked with others in at least five counties in two states, North and South Carolina. The officers investigating the theft case learned that he would essentially take orders from people, learn what they wanted and then go out and steal it. He would then have the items delivered to the "customers" and sell them.
A call placed in 2010 finally tipped police off to the possible identity of their suspect. However, it took several more months to conduct undercover investigations in both states. In addition to the main man, the police hope to arrest all of his accomplices as well.
