Residence Hub for Drug Crime Activity
What appeared to be a regular residential property turned out to be the hub for a drug distribution network that snapped the East Coast. After conducting a months-long investigation, police in Belleville had enough information to obtain a search warrant for the property.
Reports say that when they entered the house, their suspicions were quickly confirmed: the house was definitely being used as a heroin mill. Pounds of heroin would enter the home, be cut and then packaged for sale. Federal and local agents were able to track the sale of heroin from New Jersey to North Carolina.
Two men were arrested for multiple drugs crimes when police swarmed the property. The 30-year-old and 34-year-old defendants now face a variety of serious charges including
possession of a dangerous substance with intent to distribute, maintaining a booby trap and maintaining a production facility. In addition to the arrests, police confiscated plenty of evidence to bring to court against the two suspects. They seized a total of $39,000 in cash, several cars and heroin with a street value of $65,000.
