Robbery Suspect with Polite Manners Arrested in Seattle
65 year old Gregory P. Hess has been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery in Seattle, Washington. Hess is a somewhat unique case, both because of his age as well as because of his manners. In general, most people who rob convenience stores and banks tend to be rude, or at least somewhat brusque. Hess, however, is known for his polite manners while attempting a robbery.
The surveillance video from the most recent robbery allegedly shows Hess asking the owner of a White Center Shell to do him a favor and empty the till. After stating his demands, he adds "I'm robbing you, sir." The gas station owner offered to give him forty dollars, but Hess declined and took the $300 from the register. He promised to return the money if he was able.
The former Starbucks barista is now being held on a $250,000 bail. This is not his first offense; he was released from federal prison in 2007 after more than five years of imprisonment, which he was sentenced to after a string of bank robberies.
