Woman Assaulted, Kidnapped After Date
John Blackston, Jr. was arrested on Saturday night after a date. Rocky Mount police have charged him with breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon, driving while impaired (
DWI),
driving while license revoked and kidnapping. He is being held on a $40,000 bond at Nash County jail.
According the police reports, Blackston and the victim had been on a date earlier in the evening, and when the victim got home, Blackston was waiting for her inside. He then tried to assault her, prompting her to call 911 and run to her car. Blackston followed, got in the car and wrestled control of the wheel away from her.
He was seen by local police attempting to put her in the trunk of the car. He fled on foot upon their arrival, but he was caught and arrested not long after.
