Men Free Exotic Animals and Get in Trouble with the Law
Earlier this month news broke about a man that freed dozens of exotic animals from a compound in Texas. The man was able to free almost all of the animals before shooting himself. While this was big news back then, the story continues with the latest addition. Five people were taken into custody this week for attempting to steal the carcass of one of the lions that were shot.
The lion was one of 48 animals that were shot by local deputies. When the suspects located the body, they attempted to load it into a SUV. They were caught in the process and arrested on charges of misdemeanor theft. The four men ranged in age from 17 to 21 years old.
If they are found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, each one could spend up to six months behind bars, as well as pay a fine of $1,000. It is uncertain what the suspects intended to do with the carcass.
