A council member from York County found himself on the other side of the law last week. According to reports, he was arrested on charges of DUI and having an open container in his vehicle.
Officers noticed a white passenger car swerving across the road last Friday night. When they pulled the car over, it was easy to tell that the driver had been drinking. In addition to slurring his words and having red eyes, there was an open wine bottle sitting next to the 39-year-old councilman. An empty bottle of whiskey was on the backseat of the vehicle.
A quick breathalyzer exam revealed that his blood alcohol limit was well above the state limit. Police also administered standard field sobriety tests, all of which were failed. He was arrested and brought to a local jail. Since he did not have a record, the councilman was released shortly after on personal recognizance.
