Thief Caught Stealing Metal

Think that theft pertains only to money and valuable goods? Think again. Many criminals are known for stealing iron and other metals that can be smelted and sold illegally.

A man in North Carolina was detained last week on suspicion of stealing cast iron fittings, as well as other metal goods. Police responded to a phone call from a construction site where several people saw a strange truck on the site. When someone realized that the fittings had gone missing, they put two and two together and called the officials.

Police quickly caught up with the 21-year-old suspect and arrested him. He was charged with marijuana possession and petty larceny. He is believed to have stolen $900 worth of items from the construction site. Among those items taken were a sprinkler pipe, water meter case and metal hangers.
